Vibration Sensors

Vibrations

Vibrations are powerful things. They reverberate around numerous surfaces, structures and buildings and can do numerous, and many myriad, things in doing so. They can be utilised to emit sound, to enhance some experiences or, indeed, can be used in very practical and highly technical practises to carry out maintenance practises.

One of these prime practises is in that of vibrations monitoring and, subsequently, the macro processes of predictive maintenance

Vibration Sensors

Specialist equipment is utilised in these predictive maintenance processes. Vibrations are emitted from these pieces of equipment and summarily reverberated around a variety of structures.

These vibration sensors equipment includes that of the accelerometer, utilised in conjunction with the 4-20mA transmitter

Predictive maintenance benefits

There are a number of benefits to utilising predictive maintenance processes, in opposition to leaving maintenance until the time is necessary for it. By preparing and planning when maintenance will be required to be carried out, it proves beneficial to all parties.

Some of the benefits are;
  • Cost effective
  • Longer lifetime for the equipment
  • Efficient
  • Safer
Two-wire system

The vibrations sensors equipment, in the accelerometer and the 4-20mA transmitter, is so effective when utilised as a full, wired circuit due to its two wire system. This two wire system sees all vibrations information input and output concurrently by the accelerometer and the transmitter, between the structure being assuaged and those analysing said vibrations data.

This ensures that if a breakage occurs within the system, it is easy to identify. It can then be fixed in an efficient fashion, allowing the vibrations process to continue unabated.

 Variations

There are a number of variations of the vibration sensors, accelerometer, equipment and each of these variations offer different benefits and positives into the structure in which they are incorporated.

Some of the accelerometers possess a high propensity for temperatures, others are able to be submersed whilst some possess a tri-output

Triaxial accelerometers latest vibrations monitoring equipment

One of the new vibrations monitoring items of equipment released this year will be the triaxial accelerometer. This unit allows three axes to be simultaneously monitored.

The triaxial accelerometer can be utilised as a permanently mounted sensor or, alternatively, offline. The unit is supplied with IP67 stainless steel housing and is available with an M12 connector.

The unit can be configured at varying levels of sensitivity which are available for use in a myriad of applications. The units operating temperatures range from -55 degrees to +140 degrees.

Utilising its tri axes simultaneously, the unit saves considerable time in operation and setup, whilst still providing vibrations monitoring equipment that is consistent and accurate.

This tri axial unit will be available to purchase in a number of variations. These include those that are assured reputable by the ATEX awarding body, those that are submersible and those with specialised applications.

New connectors cut accelerometer installation times

A range of environmentally sealed, quick release connectors have been made available. They are assured to help cut the time of maintenance engineers in installing or refitting company’s latest industrial accelerometers.

The cable connectors utilise a two-pin standard MS plug inside a shielded rubber sleeve. This fits over the connector assembly and cable gland. This ensures that the assembly can be fitted in a simplistic and efficient fashion, whilst providing an effective and secure connection.

The rubber sleeve is able to withstand temperatures of up to 150 degrees. It is also resistant to a variety of oils, chemicals and greases.

It can also be accompanied by a myriad of cables, including cables that are;
  • Braided
  • Armoured stainless steel
The cable assembly choice is available for usage with a wide range of accelerometer, vibrations monitoring and predictive maintenance equipment.
